Meteor - a Print Control System for any Inkjet Printer

As new digital processes replace traditional printing in more and more industries, digital printer developers and systems integrators need to produce reliable equipment quickly.  Printheads and ink are available from a wide range of vendors but until now it has been impossible to buy an independent print control system that will work with any print head.
Meteor is a universal print controller designed for industrial applications.  Meteor drives most leading inkjet printheads and other types of digital array.  It is an expandable user-configurable solution for fixed and scanning printhead arrays.

It is suitable for a wide range of traditional and emerging digital printing applications such as wide format UV and solvent printers, narrow label presses, product coding and marking, inkjet materials deposition systems and large digital presses.

Meteor software takes colour-separated bitmaps, divides these into data streams for each printhead and synchronizes their printing.  A Windows DLL and a demo application are available.

Meteor is configurable to accommodate almost limitless combinations of printhead type, quantity, and position.

Large memories on the Print Controller Cards (PCCs) can be used for buffering "first-in-first-out" variable image data and/or for storing the invariable image data for repeated images or for fixed background images.

Each Meteor PCC uses USB 2.0 to interface to a PC.  Designed to be entirely modular, any number of PCCs can be used together to control large arrays of printheads.  Each PCC provides data buffering and outputs for six Meteor Head Driver Cards (HDCs).  Each HDC supports one or more printheads.

Each HDC is connected via Ethernet cable to the PCC.  A dedicated HDC is required for each type of printhead.  Contact TTP for availability information on HDCs for your printhead type.
